Prime Minister Promotes Brahmacharini Worship with Kannada Song on Social Media
Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the second day of Navratri on Monday by posting a link to a devotional video on his X profile. The clip features the Kannada bhakti anthem “Chamundi Varadaini,” rendered by vocalist B K Sumitra, with music direction by L Krishna and lyrics penned by R N Jayagopal under the Lahari Music banner.
In his brief note, the PM conveyed Navratri wishes and stressed the importance of Goddess Brahmacharini, the second avatar of Durga. He sought the goddess’s benediction for bravery, perseverance and disciplined living, describing the day as a celebration of austerity and dedication.
Brahmacharini is revered as the ascetic form of Parvati who endured intense tapas to win the affection of Lord Shiva. Devotees traditionally observe the day with white-colored offerings, the chanting of sacred verses, and the distribution of sweet treats like sugar or mishri as prasad.
Modi’s communication also reminded citizens that Navratri begins with the worship of Shailaputri, and proceeds to Brahmacharini, who is invoked for spiritual growth, knowledge and the power to surmount difficulties. The post combined religious reverence with a modern digital outreach, reflecting the festive mood across the country.
