Prime Minister celebrates L K Adwani’s milestone birthday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the home of senior BJP stalwart Lal Kishan Adwani on Sunday, November 8, to personally wish him a happy 100th birthday. The visit underscored Adwani’s status as a centenarian who has shaped modern Indian politics across multiple eras.

Simultaneously, the party’s headquarters in New Delhi hosted a havan ceremony from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The event saw the presence of BJP national president Nitin Niravane, among other senior figures, who lit incense and offered prayers for the health of the celebrated leader and the party’s prospects.

PM Modi published a reflective article that charted Adwani’s life: surviving the anguish of Partition, rebuilding his personal and political life, fortifying the Jana Sangh, playing a key role in the creation of the BJP, and opposing the Emergency with unwavering resolve. The article also recalled his stewardship of the Somnath‑Ayodhya Rath Yatra and his tenure as a Union minister.

In a separate X post, Modi praised Adwani’s love for reading, his contribution to Indian culture and cinema, and his reputation as an accomplished author. He described the date as a historic moment, announcing that L K Adwani has entered his first century, and extended his heartfelt congratulations.
