President's Police Medal and Meritorious Service Medal Recipients Announced

The 80th Independence Day celebrations in New Delhi featured a comprehensive awards ceremony for 1,057 security and emergency personnel. The President’s Police Medal, reserved for distinguished service, was bestowed upon 92 individuals – 83 from the police force, four fire‑service members, three home guard‑civil defence officers and two correctional staff.

Alongside the President’s Police Medal, 664 Meritorious Service Medals were handed out to recognise consistent, high‑quality performance. Police personnel received the bulk of these honours (606), with fire‑service (28), home guard‑civil defence (18) and correctional services (12) also represented.

The ceremony also included 301 Gallantry Medals for acts of conspicuous bravery, including 272 police officers and 29 fire‑fighters. Recipients came from left‑wing extremist‑affected zones (197), Jammu & Kashmir (51), the North‑East (12) and other areas (41).

These awards underscore the nation’s gratitude for the courage and dedication displayed by its uniformed services.
