On Wednesday, President Draupadi Murmu travelled from Gannavaram Airport to the historic hill of Indrakiladri near Vijayawada. The visit included a solemn worship of Devi Kanaka Durga, where priests recited Vedic hymns and offered sacred prasadam.
State Home Minister V. Anitha, MP K. Chinni, temple president Radhakrishna and other officials welcomed the President, joining her in the rituals. After the puja, Vedic scholars and temple officials presented her with silk sarees, a hand‑woven shawl and a portrait of the deity as a token of gratitude.
The President’s presence highlighted the government’s focus on preserving cultural heritage while promoting rural crafts showcased later at the Saras Fair.
