Power Restoration Aid: Telangana Backs Andhra Pradesh
Amaravati, October 28: The Telangana government, under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, has announced it will help Andhra Pradesh in relief and power restoration activities across cyclone-affected areas.
Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka telephoned Andhra Pradesh Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar on Wednesday. He enquired about the effects of Cyclone 'Arnab' and the damage caused by intense weather conditions in the state.
An official communication noted that Gottipati Ravi Kumar gave his Telangana counterpart an update on losses recorded so far, the ongoing relief and restoration exercises, and the steps being taken under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to reduce harm and return affected regions to normal functioning.
Gottipati described the Andhra Pradesh government's approach to managing the cyclone's fallout, with particular attention to re-establishing electricity supply and protecting residents in impacted districts.
Bhatti Vikramarka pledged that Telangana would fully stand by Andhra Pradesh in dealing with the situation. He also conveyed the state government's readiness to supply the personnel and materials needed for power restoration.
The promise of help is likely to reinforce the continuing efforts to restore electricity and respond rapidly to cyclone-linked disruptions.
Gottipati Ravi Kumar expressed thanks to the Telangana government and Bhatti Vikramarka for backing Andhra Pradesh during this testing period. He appreciated the spirit of solidarity and the willingness to provide the resources required for restoration work.
The Energy Department has deployed roughly 6,000 seasoned personnel and established emergency response mechanisms. Gottipati Ravi Kumar had previously said that experienced staff, including officers and field workers familiar with cyclone restoration tasks, were assigned to support emergency services and hasten power supply recovery in affected areas.
Leave arrangements were revised to ensure adequate manpower in areas beyond the immediate cyclone impact. Staff are being placed at sensitive locations based on operational needs.
The minister also asked the chairpersons and managing directors of power distribution companies to visit ground locations and monitor the situation closely. Directors inspected operations in the Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Kakinada and Konaseema districts.
