Power and Irrigation Projects Get Emergency Funds After Rajouri Floods

Heavy rain in July 2026 triggered flash flooding in Rajouri, inflicting an estimated loss of 27.99 crore rupees on the district’s electricity network. Of this, 9.39 crore rupees relates specifically to the Rajouri assembly segment. An emergency restoration system (ERS) tower was erected on the 132 kV Rajouri‑Draba line to restore power temporarily, while a tender process for permanent reconstruction is ongoing.

The State Disaster Relief Fund allocated an additional 1.25 crore rupees for short‑term power restoration, including 57.60 lakh rupees earmarked for the Rajouri assembly area. Separate assessments by the Water Resources and Rural Development departments have quantified damage to irrigation canals and farm‑gate infrastructure, guiding further relief measures.
