Potential Flooding and Power Outages Predicted as Storms Hit Central India

A weather warning covering twelve districts of Madhya Pradesh was released by the Indian Meteorological Department on Monday. The notice warns of gusty winds, sporadic thunderstorms and light rain that could affect Gwalior, Bhind, Muraina, Datia, Ratangarh, Shivpuri, Guna, Ashoknagar, Niwari and Orcha.

The department predicts rain rates under five millimetres per hour and a lightning probability of less than thirty percent. Residents have been cautioned about possible water‑logging in low‑lying parts of cities, temporary road closures due to reduced visibility, and brief interruptions to electricity supply if lightning makes contact with power lines.

Agricultural fields, fragile structures and young plants may sustain minor damage. Authorities recommend staying inside sturdy buildings, unplugging electronic devices, avoiding open spaces and trees, and driving slowly in rain‑slicked conditions.
