Postmortem completed, bodies of Kerala murder victims to reach home soon

The post‑mortem examinations for the two Kerala women slain in Milpitas, California, have been concluded, paving the way for the repatriation of their bodies to India. Minister Suresh Gopi indicated that the formalities will be wrapped up by Thursday, after which the remains will be transferred to the appropriate mortuary facilities for final processing.

According to the coroner’s office, the families and the appointed priest, Thomas Kora, have been briefed that the autopsy reports are expected by the end of the day. Following registration at the mortuary, officials anticipate needing one to two additional days to complete all necessary procedures.

The Indian Commercial Consulate in the United States will then handle the remaining paperwork, ensuring that the bodies are dispatched to Kerala without unnecessary delay. The ministry remains in close contact with the Indian Embassy in Washington to monitor progress and address any logistical challenges.

The victims – Anjana, 35, a school teacher from Thrissur, and En Mary Matthew, 40, a computer teacher from Keshavdaspuram – were found dead on August 28. Their murders have deeply affected the Malayali community in the United States, especially as they had jointly celebrated the Onam festival just a day before the tragedy.
