Good news for India’s micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs): exports via post offices will now qualify for all government export perks. The Ministry of Communications revealed this game-changing update, linking postal channels to benefits like RoDTEP and RoSCTL starting January 15, 2025.
For years, small exporters have leaned on postal services for affordable, accessible shipping of handicrafts, textiles, and other low-to-medium value goods. This policy bridges a critical gap, ensuring they access duty drawbacks and tax remissions previously reserved for larger players.
“This is a significant step toward simplifying and broadening export access,” the ministry stated. With automated IGST refunds streamlining processes, exporters see reduced costs, better liquidity, and heightened competitiveness.
Central to this is the Dak Ghar Export Centre (DNK) network—1,013 facilities nationwide providing one-stop solutions. From rural artisans to urban startups, these centres handle everything: packaging, e-documentation, and hassle-free customs clearance, connecting even far-flung areas to international buyers.
As India aims to hit $2 trillion in exports by 2030, empowering MSMEs through postal infrastructure could be the catalyst for widespread economic upliftment.
