Post‑monsoon assessment meeting held with officials in Sundarbani, Jammu
In a bid to evaluate the impact of the recent monsoon, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Chaudhary arrived in Sundarbani on 29 July and held a comprehensive assessment session with department heads. The meeting, conducted at the Public Works Department guest house, covered the status of flood‑affected zones across the union territory.
The discussion focused on four critical areas: rescue and relief operations, repair of cracked and submerged road stretches, restoration of drainage capacity, and addressing the immediate needs of the local populace. Chaudhary instructed the teams to fast‑track road reconstruction, clear debris from canals, and ensure that relief kits reach every shelter within the next two days.
He also ordered a joint monitoring committee to conduct field inspections twice a week until all infrastructure is back to normal. The deputy chief minister highlighted that timely intervention would prevent secondary hazards such as water‑borne diseases.
Parallel to the assessment, Chaudhary joined Gurupurnima festivities, meeting senior ascetics at the Shri 108 Shri Mukand Chetan Bal Brahmacharya Ashram and later at the Thakurwara Temple in Naushera. He invoked the spiritual heritage of the region as a source of strength for the recovery process.
His outreach continued with a visit to Chauki Hadan village, where he engaged with residents about lingering problems like inconsistent power supply and the need for new school facilities. He assured that these civic issues would be escalated to the appropriate ministries for swift action.
