Poonch Counter‑Terror Operations Yield Explosives and Flag Materials

A joint operation involving the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the forensic science laboratory and the local deputy tahsildar led to the discovery of explosive components and symbols linked to Pakistani extremist groups. The team raided a jewellery shop owned by the son of a local resident on Friday evening, finding improvised explosive device (IED) parts, communication equipment, and a Pakistani flag.

The seizure took place as part of an ongoing campaign to dismantle logistical support structures that feed insurgent activities in the region. The operation wrapped up around 10 p.m., after a systematic sweep of the store’s storage areas.

Security officials highlighted that such raids are critical in curbing the flow of material and financial aid to militants operating from across the border. Recent actions in the district have also seen the army eliminate two infiltrators near the line of control and uncover additional caches of weapons in the Surankot sector.
