Political Tension Rises as Banikpur By‑Election Heads Toward August 3
The Banikpur constituency in Bihar is witnessing a surge in political activity as the by‑poll approaches. RJD’s spokesperson Mrutyunjay Tiwari portrayed the upcoming August 3 result as a decisive blow to the BJP, describing it as the “demolition of the party’s castle.”
He highlighted the alignment of local voters with the Mahagathbandhan and praised the policies of Tejashwi Yadav, positioning them against the BJP’s campaign. The seat became vacant after Nitin Naveen, then BJP national president, resigned following his election to the Rajya Sabha, prompting a fresh contest.
Voting is scheduled for July 30, and the counting will take place on August 3. Tiwari warned that any attempts to undermine the judicial process in recent high‑profile cases would be futile and that the people’s verdict will be clear.
