Political Rift Deepens as Giriraj Singh Calls for New Direction
Union Minister Giriraj Singh’s remarks on October 14 in Patna have intensified internal friction within the INDIA alliance. The minister used the recent Raghopur incident as a backdrop to criticize the opposition’s disengagement from the electorate.
Singh stressed that key representatives were in Delhi for a meeting when the tragedy struck, questioning their commitment to constituents. He added that the incident is part of a broader trend of leaders being out of touch.
The minister also addressed the SIR case, labeling it a “courtroom drama” intended to rally anti‑government sentiment rather than resolve any substantive grievance.
A senior alliance member, speaking on condition of anonymity, allegedly told Singh that Rahul Gandhi’s leadership no longer commands confidence. The source claimed Gandhi lacks a clear roadmap and could cause “havoc across the nation.”
Singh highlighted recent electoral setbacks in West Bengal, Assam and Tripura, noting that the Congress lost all contested seats. He warned that if the alliance continues under Gandhi’s guidance, it risks further erosion ahead of the 2029 elections.
The minister concluded by describing a “brother‑sister rivalry” within the coalition, suggesting that various factions are ready to step forward and replace Gandhi as the alliance’s figurehead.
