Political Parties Accused of Betraying Reservation Promises, Says Sanjay Nishad

Nishad took aim at Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, alleging that the leader tried to strip his community of its reservation benefits. He recounted a protest on December 31, 2012, when students demonstrated against attempts to halt reservation for his groups. According to Nishad, the governor intervened just before resigning, but the issue was never raised in the legislative assembly. He urged political leaders to address the matter openly, emphasizing that the community’s ancestors fought both colonial and feudal oppressors, thereby earning a rightful claim to affirmative action.
