Political Leaders and Student Groups Demand Answers After Detentions in Delhi
The detention of CJP founder Abhijit Dipke and AISA president Neha Bora has sparked a wave of criticism across social media platforms. CJP’s official X account warned that police have transferred Dipke to an undisclosed site, cutting off all communication and denying him legal representation. The party stressed that Dipke was marching with the national flag, arguing that such a symbolic act should not be criminalised.
AISA’s statement echoed similar concerns, stating that Bora was held by the Anti‑Narcotics Task Force in Mongolpuri without any contact after evening hours. The organization alleged that her supporters were barred from meeting her, and that a small contingent of officers in civilian attire maintained a tight guard around her. Former chief minister M. K. Stalin joined the chorus, labeling the secretive detentions as illegal and inhumane, and urging the central government to free the activists immediately while halting any attempts to suppress peaceful demonstrations.
Both groups cited earlier police notices forbidding the flag rally at Central Park, noting that the municipal council had not approved the event and that a ban was already in place. They argue that the enforcement actions amount to a crackdown on legitimate dissent.
