Political Figures Question Legitimacy of Bhagwat’s Remarks Abroad

TMC MP Sougata Roy praised the idea of unity and diversity, but expressed doubt about Bhagwat’s conviction in his own statements.

DMK leader T.K.S. Ilangoovan emphasized that the Constitution, particularly Article 25, protects every citizen’s right to practice and propagate any religion. He charged that Bhagwat’s speech ignored these constitutional safeguards, describing the approach as “uncivilized.”

The criticism was joined by BJP‑aligned Sapa MP Harendra Singh Malik, who suggested that Bhagwat’s comments should first be reviewed by party officials before being projected internationally.
