Political figures call for harmony and duty on the occasion of Prophet’s birth

The birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was observed on August 26 with a series of statements from the highest offices of the Indian state.

President Murmu’s message urged every Indian to look to the Prophet’s exemplary life for guidance on moral conduct and civic responsibility, emphasizing that such inspiration is essential for an “inclusive and thriving nation.”

Vice‑President Radhakrishnan, Speaker Birla, Minister Scindia, and Minister Rijiju each highlighted the day’s potential to nurture “compassion, peace and brotherhood,” urging citizens to translate these virtues into everyday actions.

Across party lines, Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyanka Gandhi and Chandrashekhar Azad reinforced the call for communal amity, reminding people that the Prophet’s teachings promote universal values of humanity, fairness and mutual respect that can help India maintain its pluralistic character.
