Political Exploitation of Ayodhya Temple Offerings Theft Deemed Unacceptable, Says BSP Chief

Mayawati, the head of the Bahujan Samaj Party, issued a statement on X on June 30 urging citizens to keep the Ayodhya Ram temple donation scandal out of political discourse. She described the alleged pilfering of offerings as a grave breach of trust that demands rigorous legal action.

While condemning any attempt to shield the accused, she warned that using the incident for electoral advantage undermines democratic norms. Mayawati called for the implementation of a transparent accounting framework, similar to those in place at other renowned Indian temples, to prevent future discrepancies.

Law enforcement agencies have commenced a comprehensive inquiry, filing First Information Reports against several suspects and arresting a few. The ongoing probe seeks to quantify the losses, identify the method of diversion, and hold all responsible parties accountable. Opposition parties have seized on the issue to question the administration, whereas the government assures that the investigation is unbiased and thorough.
