Police Seize 4.63 Crore Worth of Marijuana, Arrest Key Accused from Rajasthan
In a high‑profile drug bust, police in Kabir Dham confiscated cannabis worth an estimated Rs 4.63 crore and arrested the mastermind behind the shipment, Ghanashyam Gurjar of Rajasthan. The operation was spearheaded by the Chilliavi police station, with strategic oversight from Superintendent Jitendra Kumar Yadav and senior officers Hemsagar Sidhar and Amit Kumar Patel.
The seizure followed a tip received on 24 February 2026 indicating that a container truck was being used to smuggle large volumes of cannabis across National Highway 30. This led to a roadblock, a thorough search, and the discovery of a secret chamber holding 890 packed packets, amounting to 927.645 kg of the narcotic.
Investigators, drawing on statements from earlier detained suspects, identified Gurjar as the principal figure. A multi‑pronged pursuit involving patrolling, technical surveillance, and a coordinated effort with Rajasthan law enforcement culminated in his capture on 9 October 2026 at Bharore Sadar police station in Kotputli‑Bharore district. After being escorted back to Kabir Dham, he appeared before the court on 12 October and was placed under judicial remand.
The operation highlighted the collaborative role of the Kabir Dham police, the Anti‑Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), and the cyber crime division, all of which contributed to dismantling the drug trafficking network and securing the substantial seizure.
