Police Reveal Details of ₹13 Million Gold and Silver Loot in Greater Noida

The Gautam Buddha Nagar Police Commissioner's office released a detailed briefing on a large‑scale jewellery theft that resulted in the confiscation of gold and silver assets totalling roughly ₹13 million. The police action on August 6 led to the arrest of five individuals believed to be involved in the crime.

Authorities reported that the robbery was carried out at about 04:30 a.m. on August 2. The perpetrators stopped a transport vehicle en route from Delhi’s Chandni Chowk to Agra, on the Yamuna Expressway near the Beta‑2 police beat, and looted an array of valuables such as necklaces, mangalsutra, pendants, rings, silver biscuits, lockets and earrings.

An intensive investigation followed the victim’s complaint, with officers reviewing over 200 surveillance videos to trace the suspects. The recovered haul included approximately 635 grams of gold and more than 12 kilograms of silver.

Investigators uncovered that the operation was planned by a local goldsmith known as Kamalkant, who was heavily indebted after a loss of one crore rupees in his finance business. He allegedly recruited his acquaintances to execute the theft.

DCP Ravi Shankar Nima explained that five specialist teams, aided by local intelligence inputs, were tasked with the operation. All five accused have been detained, and the police continue to pursue further legal proceedings.
