The Kolkata Police issued a notice on Tuesday that no public gathering will be permitted near the CESC House on the Esplanade crossing for the upcoming "Martyr Day" ceremony on July 21. The restriction, based on BNSS Section 163, aims to prevent crowds that exceed the authorized limit. TMC officials have not responded publicly yet, but party leaders have confirmed that they will contest the decision in court and raise the issue in the political arena.
The rally, originally started by the Congress to condemn the 1993 killing of its workers, has been a signature event for the Trinamool Congress since its formation in 1998.
