Police Response Vehicle Attacked in Gonda; Brothers Arrested After Apology Video

GONDA, 7 September (IANs) – A police response vehicle (PRV) patrolling the Kaudia thana area of Gonda was targeted with brick‑and‑stone fire by two local men on the nights of 6 and 7 August. The men, identified as brothers Girvar Dayal, also known as Naga, and Shivdayal, also known as Sachin or Dadaoo, were arrested early Monday as the investigation progressed.

The assault was reported by villagers, prompting station head Sashi Kumar Rana to dispatch a team to the location. During the confrontation, the brothers also attempted to strike officers with a wooden stick (farse). Several police personnel suffered minor injuries and received first‑aid at the nearby community health centre before being sent home.

After a case was lodged, police intensified the search, culminating in the brothers’ apprehension at around 04:00 a.m. A video emerging after their detention shows the duo publicly apologising, acknowledging the wrongdoing and pledging not to repeat such acts.

Both brothers already have several criminal cases registered at Kaudia police station. Further inquiries are underway to uncover the motive behind the assault, the exact nature of the weapons used, and any additional connections to other unlawful activities.
