Police Request Seven-Day Remand for Karunesh Pandey, Anukalp Mishra and Lavkush Mishra

In a bid to deepen the probe into the Ram temple donation theft, Ayodhya police have filed a petition for a seven‑day police custody remand for three of the principal accused – Karunesh Pandey, Anukalp Mishra and Lavkush Mishra. The court will consider the request on Tuesday at 12 pm. All three are among eight suspects who are presently in judicial custody and will stay there until July 13. The law‑enforcement agency says the additional custodial time is essential to extract a comprehensive account of the heist, determine the final destination of the stolen amount, and map out the involvement of other participants. Mobile phones seized from the three have been handed over to forensic experts to check for any data wiping. The SIT, tasked with this case, has already recovered significant cash, including Rs 16.82 million from Mishra and more than Rs 20 million from Shukla, as well as foreign currency. Revenue officials have provided land‑record details for about twenty parcels linked to the accused, which are now undergoing verification to establish purchase dates and any connections to the temple trust.
