Police Request to Delete X Post Cited FBI Name Sparks Controversy in Andhra

A recent request to remove a post from X, allegedly originating from the official Andhra police email, listed the Federal Bureau of Investigation as the sender. The request quickly became a flashpoint after former chief minister Y.S. Jagannathan Mohan Reddy highlighted the discrepancy.

Jagannathan noted that the email address belonged to the state police, yet the agency identified itself as the FBI. He demanded answers: Who authorized the deletion? Why was the FBI brand misused? Was the act intended to mislead the social‑media platform and suppress dissent?

The former CM argued that such a maneuver undermines the credibility of the Andhra police and projects an image of a state willing to use foreign agency labels for domestic political gain. He called for an immediate clarification from the government and warned that continuing down this path could erode public confidence in law‑enforcement institutions.

In his view, the focus should shift to addressing real challenges facing Andhra Pradesh, such as drought relief, job creation, and delivering on the promised developmental schemes, rather than engaging in symbolic gestures that attract national criticism.
