Police Recover .315 Bore Pistol Following Arrest in Bareilly Rape Probe

Law enforcement officers in Bareilly seized a .315 bore pistol and two cartridges after detaining a suspect linked to a minor rape case. The suspect, identified as Vimlesh Kumar of Pandri village, was intercepted on August 12 following a local tip that placed him at a specific spot in the Novabganj sector.

When officers attempted to surround the man, he reacted with gunfire, prompting a defensive exchange that injured him in the left leg. The bullet wound required immediate medical attention, and he was transported to a nearby hospital under police guard.

During the subsequent interrogation, Kumar confessed to participating in the sexual assault of a child, an act he reportedly committed with another individual who has not yet been captured. The weapon recovered from his possession suggests premeditation and an intent to evade arrest.

Police records reveal that Kumar previously faced charges of molestation, establishing a criminal pattern that authorities will consider during prosecution.
