Police Probe Fatal Rifle Shot Inside Message Police Complex, Bhagalpur

A tragic incident unfolded at the message police station in Bhojpur district, Bihar, where a home guard was fatally wounded by a rifle discharge on the evening of October 12. The guard, identified as 25‑year‑old Monal Kumar Rai from Gulzarpur village, received a shot that police say came from a colleague’s service rifle. After being rushed for treatment, he succumbed to his injuries. The firearm has been secured, and a forensic team, along with a magistrate, inspected the site and gathered evidence. Superintendent Avdhesh Dixit stated that the investigation will explore whether the shot was accidental or intentional. The victim’s relatives will be provided with financial assistance under the Home Guard welfare provisions, including a one‑time relief amount and a monthly allowance of two thousand rupees for the next two years, in addition to other statutory benefits.
