Police Probe Fatal Incident After Two Children Retrieved from Flooded Ditch in Madhya Pradesh

The police of Damoh district are conducting a detailed probe after two minor girls were found dead in a flooded ditch close to their home in the village of Tewari. The children, identified as 11‑year‑old Manasi Singh and 6‑year‑old Kavya Singh, disappeared at roughly 5 p.m. on Tuesday. After families searched the neighbourhood without success, a police complaint was lodged. SDOP Archana Ahir formed a search squad that worked with villagers throughout the evening. At about 10 p.m., the team observed the girls' sandals beside a deep, water‑filled hole in a nearby field. With flashlights, they uncovered the bodies submerged in the stagnant water. The corpses were extracted with the help of locals and taken to Jamira Health Centre for a post‑mortem. Investigators are now questioning relatives and nearby residents to determine the chain of events that led the children to the pit and to establish the cause of death. So far, no family member has been named as a suspect.
