Police Probe Death of 15-Year-Old Missing from Aliganj After Canal Jump
In the early hours of July 8, residents of Chandoli reported a submerged body in the Khodna canal. The police swiftly arrived at the scene, recovered the corpse, and identified the victim as a 15‑year‑old girl named Khushbu, originally from Levra Road, Aliganj thana area.
Khushbu had been registered as missing by the Adilhat police after she failed to return from her maternal grandparents' house in Kawaghat. The missing‑person case had already been logged when the canal incident occurred.
Initial statements suggest that the teenager left home after an argument over filming a video reel, which escalated into a physical or verbal altercation. Investigators are now focusing on the timeline between her departure, her presence near the canal, and the circumstances that led to her submersion.
The body has been sent to the district mortuary for a detailed post‑mortem examination. Police have also begun a forensic audit of the canal area, collecting CCTV footage and interviewing locals to piece together the final moments of the young girl's life.
The department has assured the public that all leads will be pursued vigorously, and any findings will be communicated promptly.
