Police Probe Deadly Head‑On Collision on Maharashtra Highway
Authorities in Maharashtra have launched a formal probe after a head‑on collision on the Karanja‑Manora route in Washim district resulted in two fatalities. The crash took place at about 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, when a car traveling from Kuptha towards Manora slammed into a vehicle coming from the opposite direction near Kuptha Ghat.
First responders, including a 108 ambulance crew, arrived within minutes and transferred the bodies to Manora Rural Hospital for autopsy. Police teams secured the incident area, conducted a preliminary survey, and cleared the wrecked vehicles to restore traffic flow.
The investigation team will examine speed logs, driver statements and vehicle condition to ascertain contributing factors. At present, the victims have not been identified publicly.
In a related development, a fire broke out in a moving car in Malegaon, also within Washim district, on the same day. The vehicle was quickly engulfed, but the occupants escaped unharmed. Firefighters contained the blaze, and officials are conducting a separate inquiry to determine the fire's origin.
