Police Probe Collective Poisoning that Claimed Lives of an Ajmer Family

Ajmer police have launched a detailed investigation after three members of the Sharma family were found dead following a suspected joint suicide.

The victims – Ashok Sharma (59), his wife Indra Sharma (52) and their daughter Diksha Sharma (20) – allegedly ingested a mixture of sulphur tablets dissolved in water late Saturday night, around 7:45 p.m.

After their condition worsened, relatives rushed them to Jawahar Lal Nehru Hospital, where doctors pronounced death. The bodies are currently held at the hospital’s mortuary pending further forensic analysis.

CI Omprakash Meena, supported by a forensic team, examined the residence and collected evidence. Preliminary information suggests that Ashok’s son, Gourav Sharma, who lives in Jaipur, was present in the house but survived. The son’s whereabouts during the incident are being verified.

Authorities are interviewing close family members, neighbours and anyone who might shed light on possible motives such as financial pressure or domestic issues. The final post‑mortem report will determine the exact cause of death and whether a suicide note existed.
