Police Brace for Congress Demonstration Ahead of Amit Shah’s Pune Tour

PUNE, July 30 – Law‑enforcement officials in Pune are reportedly finalising security arrangements in anticipation of a Congress‑led rally scheduled for August 1, the day Union Home Minister Amit Shah is due to arrive in the city.

According to statements from senior police officers, crowd‑control measures, including deployment of additional personnel and pre‑approved sound‑amplification equipment, have been arranged in line with the permissions granted to the organisers. The police have also warned that they will act against any unlawful activity and have urged protestors to adhere to the law.

Congress leaders, however, contend that the police are repeatedly trying to obstruct the rally and have filed false cases against participants. They claim that families of activists continue to be harassed even after the demonstration concludes.

The upcoming protest is set to take place at Seven Loves Chowk on Shankar Sheth Road, a location that intersects with Shah’s planned route. The authorities have asked the public to cooperate with security personnel to ensure that the day proceeds without incident.
