Police Officials Allegedly Demanded Money for Case Delay in Kesarra

The Anti‑Corruption Bureau of Telangana disclosed that two police officers from the Kesarra police station were arrested for demanding a bribe to stall a pending case. The officers allegedly asked the complainant to pay a total of ten lakh rupees to ensure that the case file would not be processed and that the complainant and his friends would not face further harassment.

The scheme unfolded when the complainant, frustrated by constant intimidation and repeated requests for food and beverages, turned to the ACB for help. Investigators learned that Inspector/SHO Arkapalli Anjaneyulu instructed Sub‑Inspector Gyanaendra Reddy to collect the money. The Sub‑Inspector was caught with the cash in a vehicle near the lake during a Ganesh Visarjan duty.

Both officers are now in judicial remand and will appear before the Special Judge handling ACB cases in Namapally. The ACB, acting under the direction of DSP Majid Ali Khan, also searched the police station and the personal residences of the accused to collect further evidence.

The bureau urged citizens to report any instance of extortion by government officials through the 1064 toll‑free number, guaranteeing anonymity for whistle‑blowers.
