Police Officers Claim Organized Attack by Congress Supporters During SIR Demo

Delhi Police officials have alleged that the protest on October 7 at India Block was not a spontaneous outburst but a coordinated assault orchestrated by Congress supporters. Constable Deependra Sandhu explained that officers were informing the crowd about the legal restriction under Section 163 when protestors deliberately targeted them, pulling him backward, slamming him onto the pavement and launching a barrage of kicks and punches. Head Constable Bhupendra Ahlawat described a similar scenario where he was grabbed by the waist, thrown down, and then shielded by party workers who helped the assailant disappear into a nearby green area. Female constable Seema added that she was struck while escorting legislators, later learning that the legislators were seated with senior party leader Priyanka Gandhi. The police have filed multiple FIRs accusing opposition activists of physical assault, intimidation and obstruction of duty.
