Police Nab Delhi Man Accused of Slashing Wife After Jealousy Dispute
Delhi police have successfully detained a man suspected of slashing his wife to death in Gautam Puri. The incident was reported at approximately 7:32 p.m. on July 16 when neighbors heard a disturbance at a flat on Gali No. 9, third floor.
When responders arrived, they found the 45‑year‑old woman lying in a pool of blood. She was immediately transported to J.P. Hospital, where medical staff confirmed her death. The Crime Team and the Forensic Science Laboratory secured the site, gathered DNA samples, and sent the body for a post‑mortem at G.T.B. Hospital.
Saleem, the husband, disappeared from the residence shortly after the attack. A multi‑city surveillance sweep linked him to several locations across Uttar Pradesh. Using coordinated efforts, the police traced his movements and arrested him near Muradabad railway station within two days of the crime.
During questioning, Saleem admitted to the fatal assault, citing longstanding arguments over a perceived extramarital liaison with a co‑worker from a garment factory. He claimed he seized a pair of scissors in a moment of rage, inflicted lethal wounds, locked the door, and escaped. The scissors and the blood‑stained clothing have been collected as crucial evidence.
