Police nab 41-year-old for facilitating multi‑state online fraud
The Noida cyber crime cell arrested a 41‑year‑old man from Surajpur who played a pivotal role in a nationwide online scam by providing a bank account to the perpetrators. The fraudsters operated a counterfeit trading platform, promising investors quick gains in the share market. Over time, the scheme extracted close to ₹1.78 crore from numerous victims across India.
The investigation was triggered after a complaint filed on May 2, 2025, by a victim who was added to a WhatsApp group that advertised the fake service. Subsequent raids uncovered a mobile device linked to the accused, and forensic analysis of his bank statements revealed a commission‑based arrangement where he received 10% of the illicit proceeds.
The suspect faces a total of 26 pending criminal cases in states such as Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra, Haryana, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. He has been charged under IPC sections 318(4), 319(2) and IT Act section 66D. Authorities continue to pursue other members of the network and warn the public to verify any investment offers received through messaging platforms.
