Police Foil Social Media Weapon Display in Delhi
Delhi police have successfully disrupted a social‑media‑driven weapon display after an 18‑year‑old from Gokalpuri posted videos on Instagram waving illegal arms. The incident unfolded on July 9, 2026, when constables on duty in Sanjay Colony identified the suspect, Manish (also known as Kangla), brandishing a weapon at approximately 5:30 p.m.
When officers attempted to detain him, the youth fled to his house and initially resisted questioning. He later admitted that the weapons were authentic and had been hidden inside his home. A subsequent raid uncovered two illegal desi knives, which were confiscated under the Arms Act. The case was logged under the Act on the same day, and the weapons are now in police custody.
The investigation continues to trace the supply chain of the weapons, explore any links to broader illegal‑arms networks, and determine whether the arms have been employed in other offenses. Parallel inquiries are examining the suspect’s Instagram activity to identify any further violations or potential accomplices.
