Police Fire in Self‑Defence, Injure Two Rape Alleged Offenders in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh – In a late‑night operation on October 18, Ghaziabad police engaged two men wanted in a rape investigation after a confrontation near the Sajwan Nagar water‑plant.

The suspects, identified as Mustaqeem (48) and Pradeep (40), were moving on a motorcycle when officers tried to stop them at a checkpoint. The fugitives tried to turn back and flee, slipping on the uneven road and falling.

Instead of surrendering, they opened fire on the police. The officers responded with a measured burst of bullets, striking both suspects’ legs. The injured men were promptly taken to a hospital for medical attention.

The police recovered two illegal guns, a cartridge box, an unregistered bike and two mobile phones from the scene. The local area was secured, and normal order was restored.

Further investigation is ongoing, and the culprits face upcoming judicial proceedings. This incident comes a day after another police encounter in the Bhojpur area, where a 22‑year‑old wanted robber was also apprehended after a gunfight.
