Police and Disaster Forces Coordinate Flood Response in Gujarat

In response to relentless rains across southern Gujarat, police leadership and disaster‑relief agencies intensified their coordination on Wednesday. Surveillance teams inspected Surat, Valsad, Navsari and Dang districts, issuing evacuation orders for those living in low‑lying zones.

DG Police G.S. Malik convened a video conference with district commissioners, range officers and State Reserve Police commanders. The session evaluated the law‑and‑order scenario, the effect of the rain on public safety, and the spread of fake video content on social media, urging stricter cyber oversight.

Commanders were told to safeguard government property, maintain peace and keep essential services running. Police units were also directed to work closely with local bodies for swift evacuation, relief distribution and rescue missions.

The National Disaster Response Force expanded its deployment, sending its 6th Battalion to the Parvatpati area of Surat and another squad to the south‑zone office of Surat Municipal Corporation at Udhna. In Valsad, NDRF teams were positioned in vulnerable wards such as Hanuman Bagda, Darudia and Tarija to monitor water levels and respond to any sudden flooding.
