Police Department Investigates Fatal Revolver Mishap in Nizamabad

Hyderabad, September 18 – The Nizamabad police headquarters was the scene of a fatal accident when a reserve inspector’s service revolver discharged while being cleaned.

Reserve Inspector H. Satish, who had just completed his duty, was inspecting his sidearm when the weapon unexpectedly fired, inflicting severe wounds. Fellow officers arrived moments later, but Satish passed away before any medical transport could be arranged.

The department has forwarded the body to a government general hospital for an official post‑mortem and registered a case to explore the technical reasons behind the accidental shot. Initial speculation that the officer might have taken his own life was disproved by preliminary findings that point to a mishandling during cleaning.

This loss comes amid heightened sensitivity in the force after several recent police suicides in the state. Senior officials have reiterated calls for mental‑health support, urging officers to avoid alcohol, drugs, and risky online betting, which have been identified as contributing factors in prior incidents.
