When authorities ordered the demonstrators to disperse, the situation escalated into a physical scuffle, resulting in police baton charges. During the turmoil, Devendra Nath Mahato was struck, prompting his immediate transfer to Ranchi’s Sadar Hospital where he was placed on oxygen support as his condition was assessed.
