Police Detail Capture of Sadik Khan After Multi‑State Manhunt

After a coordinated chase across five Indian states, police arrested Sadik Khan, the founder and coach of a professional rifle shooting academy, on August 20 in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The operation involved more than ten police teams monitoring Khan’s movements.

Khan had been evading detection by avoiding mobile phone usage and online transactions. However, investigators leveraged technical evidence and human intelligence to locate him at a relative’s residence in Meerut. He was subsequently presented before a magistrate, who issued a transit warrant to move him to Andhra Pradesh.

The court in Kakinada ordered a 14‑day judicial custody for Khan, linking him to a series of serious offenses: murder, forced religious conversion, extortion, and abetment of suicide.

The suicide‑related case stems from the death of Nuka Raju’s family, who jumped into the Godavari River on August 16. A suicide note blamed Khan for harassing Saujanya, the daughter of the deceased family patriarch, and for threatening the family’s safety. Another complaint filed by Saujanya’s father‑in‑law alleges Khan’s involvement in the poisoning death of his son Jagdish Reddy.

Khan remains in the Kakinada sub‑jail while authorities continue to investigate the multiple charges. The case highlights the extensive inter‑state cooperation among police agencies to apprehend individuals linked to violent crimes.
