Police and BJP Said to Collude in Attempt to Disrupt Martyrs’ Day Event

Mamata Banerjee asserted on Tuesday that the police and the BJP are jointly trying to sabotage the Martyrs’ Day rally in Kolkata. She claimed the stage set up in front of the Bidla Planetarium was deliberately damaged, and that police officials warned the families of martyrs not to join the ceremony.

According to Banerjee, the sabotage began with the destruction of the stage, cutting of power and microphone lines, and the tearing of banners and posters. She said approximately 60 BJP‑supported thugs carried out the vandalism, under the direction of a person who remains out on bail.

Banerjee warned that continued obstruction would force the TMC to file a contempt of court petition against the state administration and police, accusing them of contemptually defying a court order that permits the rally at the planetarium location.
