PM Shri initiative allocates ₹27,360 crore to upgrade model schools

The financial blueprint of PM Shri reflects a total outlay of ₹27,360 crore for the period 2022‑23 through 2026‑27. Of this, the Union Government’s share rises from ₹2,520 crore in the first year to ₹5,224 crore by the final year, marking a 107 percent increase. The remaining balance is expected to be met through state contributions and other sources. The funds are earmarked for a holistic transformation – from robust classrooms and laboratories to digital learning platforms, teacher‑training programmes and mechanisms for inclusive education. The overarching goal is to turn existing schools into exemplar institutions that demonstrate how NEP 2020 can be operationalised at the grassroots level.
