Excitement peaked in Birbhum’s Suri on April 9 as Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off his West Bengal campaign trail with back-to-back rallies. BJP faithfuls poured in before dawn, transforming the grounds into a sea of saffron. Women dominated the gathering, their presence a striking testament to growing support. Hands held aloft photos of Modi and protest banners demanding ‘Parivartan’—change—in the state plagued by violence and underdevelopment.

One enthusiastic supporter, a young lady with a unique poster featuring PM Modi and his mother, opened up: ‘He loves his mom, so I carried her image. Bengal deserves growth, and only Modi’s leadership can bring it.’ Her simple gesture resonated deeply amid the festivities.

Local activist Ragini Mukherjee shared her joy: ‘Modi’s maiden Birbhum visit has us thrilled. BJP must triumph here—women live in fear after dark. Imagine the freedom of Delhi’s streets post-9 PM under BJP rule.’ Aarti Mishra added gravitas: ‘Modi embodies national pride. Without his government, Bengal’s girls are at risk. We demand change now.’

The chorus grew louder with voices like Anushri Mondal decrying TMC’s mismanagement, Rashmi Divya lauding the women’s quota law, and others like Anju and Nirmala pinning hopes on BJP’s victory. From safety woes to empowerment dreams, the women’s narratives painted a vivid picture of discontent and aspiration.

As Modi prepared to address the masses, the rally symbolized a pivotal shift. Bengal’s electorate, especially its women, appeared ready to rewrite the state’s political script, betting on Modi’s promises for a safer, prosperous future.
