PM Modi Calls Out Fear‑mongering Amid Global Crises

Modi turned his speech to recent global turbulence, naming the COVID‑19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine and unrest in West Asia as sources of widespread anxiety. He accused certain groups of deliberately spreading false narratives – claiming shortages of vaccines, fuel, diesel and fertilizers – to keep the public fearful.

He said, "Some people enjoy frightening the nation," and warned that such misinformation can undermine confidence in government programmes. According to Modi, India's pre‑emptive policies, such as the extensive gas network and solar subsidies, have insulated the country from the worst effects of these crises.

The prime minister pledged that India will remain vigilant, continue transparent communication, and rely on its own resources to counter any future attempts at panic‑selling.
