In a fiery Rajya Sabha speech responding to President Droupadi Murmu’s address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused Congress of systemic betrayal, from farmers to national infrastructure. The Thursday address laid bare deep-seated differences in policy approaches.
Focusing on agriculture, Modi pointed out that 10 crore small farmers with under two hectares have been ignored for decades. His government, driven by empathy and ground realities, launched PM Kisan, pumping Rs 4 lakh crore into their pockets swiftly.
Congress’s track record? ‘Procrastinate, obstruct, confuse,’ Modi said, using the ‘jeep and mule model’ as a jab at their outdated ways. He shared a historical anecdote: Patel dreamed of the Narmada dam pre-Independence; Nehru did the groundwork, but Modi delivered the inauguration.
Escalating the critique, Modi questioned Congress’s patriotism: ‘Building developed India, they organize grave-digging ceremonies. Whose love shop digs citizens’ graves? This mocks the Constitution itself.’
Showcasing successes, he touted the Bogibeel Bridge in the Northeast, revived under his leadership after years of inertia, boosting connectivity and growth.
Modi’s closing philosophy set him apart: India’s 1.4 billion are not problems but powerhouses of solutions. ‘We trust our people; Congress doesn’t,’ he proclaimed, ending on a note of optimism for a self-reliant nation amid opposition gloom.
