The 18th Bharat Mango Festival, organized by Kanpur MP Ramesh Awasthi in Delhi’s Talkatora Stadium, received a congratulatory message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The message lauded the event as an inspiring example of agricultural innovation and farmer empowerment. Modi highlighted that such festivals boost agricultural diversity and improve farmer incomes through enhanced marketing and access to technology. He also noted the festival’s alignment with government initiatives like PM Kisan Samman Nidhi and e-NAM, which provide financial support and online trading opportunities, thus reducing intermediaries and increasing transparency in agricultural transactions. The festival, initiated 18 years ago by Awasthi, has grown from a regional exhibition to a national platform showcasing over 350 mango varieties and offering farmer sessions and awards.
