Prime Minister Narendra Modi was greeted by an overwhelming wave of supporters at a helipad in West Bengal, defying intense heat to welcome him during the ongoing election frenzy. Sharing the electrifying moment on Instagram, Modi described it as an ‘incredible spectacle’ that exemplified the unyielding spirit of the state’s people.

The video post, timestamped around midday on Saturday, showed Modi addressing the nation directly. ‘My dear countrymen, look behind me – this is Bengal’s mood. It’s 11 to 11:30 AM, my first meeting of the day, and the helipad is swarming with youth, women, sisters, and even jawans,’ he narrated with evident pride.

Modi pointed to the lotus flags fluttering everywhere, a clear nod to BJP’s expanding footprint. He noted the crowds had gathered well before his arrival, underscoring their dedication despite the sweltering conditions.

As political temperatures rise ahead of the polls, this event highlights the high stakes. West Bengal’s 294 assembly seats will see voting in two brisk phases: April 23 for 152 seats and April 29 for 142 others. Counting on May 4 will unveil the new government.

Unlike the protracted eight-phase election in 2021, this year’s format aims for quicker resolution and reduced disruptions. Modi’s visible excitement suggests BJP is banking on such grassroots fervor to challenge the incumbent Trinamool Congress, promising a nail-biting showdown in the coming weeks.
