Pithkul Transmission Project Financing Discussed in Delhi Meeting

The meeting also covered the Pithkul transmission line, a project valued at ₹3,638.26 crore and supported by an ADB loan component. Dhami urged the Union government to retain the original 80:20 ADB‑state financing ratio, noting that the proposal includes an ADB loan of ₹2,910.61 crore. He pointed out that the Central Electricity Authority has declared the scheme technically viable and the Ministry of Power has not raised objections, although a suggestion to cap the ADB share at 60 percent was made. Maintaining the 80:20 split, he argued, is essential to preserve the special‑category financial benefits accorded to Himalayan states.
