Pithampur Crash: Trolley Hits Bike, Three Students Dead
Three young relatives lost their lives in a road accident in Pithampur, an industrial town in Madhya Pradesh, on Thursday. A speeding trolley crashed into their motorcycle on the Mhow-Neemuch highway.
The mishap happened near St. Francis School, close to Mahendra Bridge. Sector-1 police station is handling the matter.
The dead are Priyansh, a Class 9 student, his younger brother Moksh from Class 5, and their cousin Aarushi, a Class 7 student. All three were residents of Utkarsh Aangan Colony in Pithampur.
According to police, Priyansh did not go to school on Thursday. In the afternoon, once classes were over, he set out on a motorcycle to fetch his younger brother and cousin and bring them home. While the three were riding back, a fast-moving trolley struck them near the school, and police confirmed that all three died at the spot.
Family members and locals protested after the accident by laying one of the children's bodies on the road. The large gathering at the site blocked traffic in the surrounding area.
Local residents alerted the police, and a team was dispatched to the scene. The bodies were sent for postmortem to Pithampur Civil Hospital, and the families were told about the deaths.
Police said the trolley driver absconded after the collision. A case has been filed against him under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act. Police are making efforts to find and arrest him.
Traffic on the Mhow-Neemuch highway was held up for a while because of the accident and the crowd. After the damaged motorcycle was removed, traffic was restored. The probe is ongoing, and eyewitness statements are being recorded.
